Disabling the home button during administration

We know that some test administrators prefer to disable the home button on the iPad, to prevent participants from exiting the application at inopportune times (i.e. during testing).
In this case, we recommend running the device in “Guided Access”. This limits the device to only allow getting out of the app to the home screen through a password.

To set up guided access:
Tap Settings > General > Accessibility > Guided Access to set up Guided Access. From there you can turn Guided Access on or off, and set a passcode that controls the use of Guided Access and prevents someone from leaving an active session.
To Start a Guided Access session:
Open the app you want to run.
Triple-click the Home button.
Adjust settings for the session (likely none will need to be adjusted), then click Start.
If user presses the Home button, a prompt will indicate that the Home button must be triple-clicked and password entered in order to exit the app.
